Welcome

NCA is a network of coastal communities concerned about the inequitable impact of NSW government and local council management of the coastal zone.

There are over 50,000 residential homes in NSW coastal communities – as well as public infrastructure and assets including roads, public utilities, beaches and reserves – affected by projections of sea level rise, inundation and coastal erosion.
The responsibility to manage and mitigate current and future coastal hazards is a shared responsibility for all levels of government and society. Communities and individuals should not be unfairly burdened with the loss of livelihood and freedoms when they alone are not the cause of the challenges we all face.

NCA policy objectives include;
  • Management of bushfires, floods and coastal hazards
    on an equal basis
  • Protection of public and private coastal assets
  • Improved engagement with government and the wider community
  • Establish ‘evidence based’ research and information frameworks
  • Equitable sharing of costs and benefits between all stakeholders
